# The Financial Web, Onchain
> FX is the launch layer for a world of connected currencies.
Money has never existed alone.
A currency only means something because it can be measured against something else. A dollar against a euro. A yen against a dollar. Gold against a pound. A loaf of bread against a coin. Every form of money inherits its meaning from the network of things it can be exchanged for.
This is the foundation of finance.
Currencies are not isolated assets. They are nodes in a web of relative value. Every exchange rate is an edge connecting one form of money to another. Every market adds another path through the network. The deeper and more connected that network becomes, the more useful each currency becomes.
Foreign exchange is the clearest expression of this.
There is no absolute price of a dollar or a euro. There is only the price of one in terms of another. EUR/USD. USD/JPY. GBP/USD. Thousands of relationships continuously translating value across economies, markets, and borders.
The global financial system is built on this web.
Now that web is moving onchain.

FX introduces a different primitive:
**launch a token into a currency pair.**
A coin launched into EUR/USD does not begin with one market. It enters a financial relationship.
It can trade against EURC. It can trade against USDC. Those markets exist beside the underlying EUR/USD market, creating a triangle of prices, liquidity, routing, and arbitrage.
The token becomes another node in the financial web.
This changes what a token launch can be.
A new asset no longer has to live inside a single currency economy. It can launch directly into the relationship between currencies. Traders can approach it from either side. Routers can move through the underlying foreign exchange market when that produces better execution. Arbitrage can keep the different markets connected.
The currency pair becomes part of the token itself.
A token launched into EUR/USD is not simply a token priced in dollars with another pool attached. It is a market that lives inside the EUR/USD network.
The same structure can exist around USD/JPY, EUR/JPY, USD/CAD, or any other tokenized currency market that develops on Arc.
That creates an entirely new surface for onchain markets.
Not just new tokens.
New tokens inside new monetary relationships.
